Ruth E. Taylor-Piliae, Ph.D., RN, CNS program of research is focused on increasing physical activity among adult populations suffering from the ravages of cardiovascular disease, through the implementation of innovative physical activity interventions such as Tai Chi, to reduce the negative impact of associated disabilities and improve overall health and quality of life. During the past 6 years, she has worked on several NIH-funded Tai Chi exercise research studies among community-dwelling adults, including those cardiovascular disease risk factors, has presented these results at national and international conferences, and has more than 10 first-authored state-of-the-science publications on Tai Chi.
