This special vendors’ exhibit hall features an exciting array of interesting cultural merchandise, diverse memorabilia, and intriguing treasures of all kinds.
The Silk Routes of History
For thousands of years, many so-called “Silk Routes” were links from China through Asia Minor to the Mediterranean and beyond. Merchants as well as soldiers, pilgrims, and adventurers made their way overland, establishing transcontinental trade routes and intercultural market towns. These routes not only became conduits for exchange of goods such as silk, spices, pearls, and other luxuries, but also were the means of linking ideas, technology, and entire cultures. Trade along the Silk Roads was a significant factor in the development of many of the great civilizations such as China, India, Persia, Arabia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome.
