As a faculty/researcher in the Physical Therapy Department at D’Youville College, Buffalo NY., Dr. Klein’s research on clinical applications of taijiquan and qigong has been published in leading medical journals. Research topics include comprehensiveness of therapeutic effects of taijiquan and qigong, benefits of taijiquan and qigong practice for individuals with Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers, as well as applications in cardiopulmonary physical therapy, Supported by a grant from New York State Department of Health, she co-developed instructional manuals and DVD's to train in-house exercise leaders in easy-to-follow calming and health-promoting exercises (CAREx) based on principles of tai chi and qigong for use in long-term care settings. As part of this NYS Fall Prevention demonstration project, CAREx training resources have been distributed to all long-term care facilities in NYS. She is currently consulting with the Western New York Fall Prevention Coalition.
